For those of you who know me; you know I enjoy searching for things on the internet. For those of you who don't know me; you now know that I enjoy searching for things on the internet. What I am getting at is that I was reading everything on the Blackboard and searching for every spot to even beginning the scavenger hunt assignment. Well finally I moved my cursor across the title of Week 1: Introduction to the Course and Orientation, and a hand came up, so I clicked and there were my assignments. I was able to open everything fine and finish everything up to this point with ease. Now knowing that I need to click on the title tab I will be able to fly through the weeks knowing where to find my assignments and to find my directions. I thought this would be a good topic to elaborate on, because finding things usually isn’t that difficult for me and when I came upon this it was embarrassing, and even a little bit frustrating not being able to find it. Once I put my mind to something I will accomplish it, but sometimes it just takes a little bit more time than normal.
Upon another assignment that we are doing in this class for week 1 is the creating a Homepage. In my mind first thought is a website. I have taken a website authoring class, so I was rearing and ready to start another site. For those of you who would like to check out a site that I helped create you can go to www.hjortexc.com . It is a site that I helped my father put together for his business.
I know this blog isn’t exactly what we are looking for in our assignments, but I am ready to talk about things that we learn in blogs to come.
It looks like you are already in the PR business to some extent. Doing a webpage for your father's business seems like a big PR project to me. And it looks really nice. I've seen some terrible webpages out there, but yours seems clean and well organized. Where is the picture taken, and are you in it anywhere?
ReplyDeleteYour webpage looks great. I'm really glad we don't have to follow in your footsteps and try to create something like that though!! I'm happy just figuring out this blogging business.
ReplyDeleteI had a similar problem of finding things when I moved up to Microsoft 2007, especially Word. For the life of me I couldn't find the print button or the help button. I finally had to call a co-worker and she pointed them out to me very easily and they popped right out at me! I must have been looking too hard and probably had gotten too frustrated.
interesting blog man. Congrats on the new engagement! my fiance and i have been wedding planning for the last 6 months now and we arent getting married for another 5! my advice to you would be to start now. great job on the web page, it looks great. i only wish that i had the knowledge to create something like that. i also cannot stop until i accomplish the task i have set my mind to. i cannot stand the feeling of leaving soemthing undone. although, it also takes me some time to finish something i cant grasp in my mind.
ReplyDeleteI also had a tough time finding the assignments in Course Documents. I read everything and went back to all the emails we got from Shannon too. Finally like you siad my cursor happened to go over the title and I noticed it changed to the hand. It took me a long time tho. Your website that you did for your dad is really good. I also took the website authoring class it was a lot of fun learning how to effectively create a site. This semester I am creating the Music pages that will go on the VCSU webisite for the Music Department.
ReplyDeleteRandy, Great job on the post. I just want you to know that it is always ok to ask a friend for a little help in finding an assignment or just asking for a little help is ok as well. Keep up the wedding planning and make sure to help her as much as you can because it is just as much your day as it is hers. I think it is amazing how great of a relationship you have with your dad and that are help him so much with the family business. One question, Is there ever a time when you guys disagree or dont get along? I know I have worked for my dad for the past 5 years and there are times when we do have major disagreements but we always seem to work through them. I am sure you situation is similar or much better.
