Crisis on the Home front

I have been in a whirl wind of excitement. From being in Valley, to returning home three times in two weeks. I put on one thousand five hundred miles just because of the flooding. For the last four weeks I have been without sufficient internet as most of us are. Here, home in the woods, we haven’t been blessed with high speed, DSL, or even wireless until now, after making a few phone calls I have wireless internet that couldn’t run more smoothly. I have also been away from my computer for a week playing in an all star game for football. It was held in Platte City, Missouri. That trip added another two thousand five hundred miles to my traveling belt for the month of April. After getting back and sitting down I am now more overwhelmed with homework than I ever was. It has been a long spring break many would say and it is hard to find the motivation to actually sit down and finish up the semester. This last week I have been able to get off of work, unplug all the televisions, and set my focus on finishing up. For this weekend I get to bring another crisis upon myself. I have been blessed with the opportunity to try out for a Canadian Football League Team, so I will once again be away from my computer and away from the internet, and also with my focus away from school once again. I will find a way to get everything done but this flood has really made a burden for all of us I can imagine. I hope everyone is able to stay safe and dry in these next few weeks as the cleanup is being done.

  1. I am totally with you on the focus issue. My home and immediate community has not been affected by any flooding, although we have had to deal with closed roads and such in the area. However, the atmosphere of turmoil and upheaval just in the online class alone has caused a break in my attention that I am finding difficult to regain. I can't imagine how hard that would be if I were actually displaced or damaged by these floods. And Good Luck on the football tryouts!!

  2. Writing your blog on a personal crisis was an interesting spin on the assignment. When you think about it, it only stands to reason that a major natural disaster could cause personal crises for all those involved. It was bad enough for me being on the outer ring of this disaster; I cannot imagine being involved as you were!

After reading your blog, I admire your determination to keep plugging away and getting the most out of these last weeks of class. Especially with your CFL tryouts, I can only imagine the internal conflicts you must be having with yourself over where your time would be better spent.

    Best of luck with everything!!
